What it means

Zigbee remains the most widely deployed low-power mesh in hubs and sensors. Certification confirms the device interoperates at the application layer with certified devices, while vendor-specific clusters can still limit cross-brand features.

Applies to

  • Sensors, plugs, switches and lighting
  • Zigbee coordinators sold inside hubs
  • Devices intended for multi-brand zigbee networks

What it does not cover

  • Matter certification
  • Wi-Fi performance
  • Cloud features of the vendor app

Verification checklist

  • Implement the correct Zigbee device type and clusters
  • Validate against certified devices from other vendors
  • Complete CSA certification testing
  • Document vendor-specific behaviour for support teams
