What it means

UKCA marking mirrors much of the EU framework after Brexit. The UK government has continued to recognise CE marking for most goods, but radio equipment, security products and labelling rules should be checked per product before shipping.

Applies to

  • Radio equipment placed on the Great Britain market
  • Products where the manufacturer chooses the UKCA route
  • Importers and distributors holding stock in the UK

What it does not cover

  • Northern Ireland, where specific UKNI arrangements apply
  • EU market access, which still needs CE marking
  • Product-specific approvals such as gas or medical devices

Verification checklist

  • Confirm whether CE or UKCA is the accepted route for your product
  • Use a UK approved body where third-party assessment is required
  • Keep the UK declaration of conformity with UK responsible person details
  • Apply the UKCA mark and correct labelling
