What it means

For network equipment and consumer electronics, Energy Star certification requires third-party testing and registration, and the label must be used only for the certified configuration.

Applies to

  • Products where efficiency is a selling point
  • Retail programmes that require the label

What it does not cover

  • Safety, EMC or radio approval
  • EU energy labelling, which is a separate scheme
  • Inverter or motor efficiency standards

Verification checklist

  • Confirm the product category is currently eligible
  • Test against the active specification version
  • Complete third-party certification and registration
  • Report changes that affect qualified configuration
