What it means

Manufacturers declare conformity, apply the CE mark and produce a technical file. From 1 August 2025 the delegated regulation on cybersecurity for internet-connected radio equipment adds mandatory security requirements.

Applies to

  • Any product containing a radio transmitter
  • Devices that combine radio, GPS or cellular functions
  • Internet-connected radio equipment, including apps that control them

What it does not cover

  • A CE mark alone does not prove a product is secure or future-proof
  • Chemical or packaging obligations handled by RoHS, REACH and packaging rules
  • National spectrum restrictions that still apply inside the EU

Verification checklist

  • Identify the applicable directives and harmonised standards
  • Decide whether a notified body is required
  • Build and retain the technical file for the required period
  • Sign the EU declaration of conformity
  • Apply the CE mark, importer details and language requirements
