What it means
The CB Scheme reduces repeated safety testing across countries. A CB test certificate and report from one member body is accepted as the basis for national approval by other members, sometimes with national differences added.
Applies to
- Products needing safety approval in several countries
- Power supplies, chargers and appliances
- Components with their own standards
What it does not cover
- Radio approvals, which are handled by national telecom schemes
- Marking requirements, which stay national
- Factory inspection regimes of individual schemes
Verification checklist
- Choose a CB test laboratory recognised in the target countries
- Confirm national differences before testing
- Request the CB certificate and full test report
- Convert the report into national certificates where needed
