What it means
RoHS compliance is shown through a technical file, supplier declarations and material test reports rather than a product mark. Many other markets have adopted similar restrictions, sometimes with different substance lists.
Applies to
- Electrical and electronic equipment in the ten RoHS categories
- Components and sub-assemblies placed on the market
- Cables, power supplies and accessories sold with the device
What it does not cover
- Batteries, which have their own regulation
- Packaging, which is covered by packaging rules
- Product safety or radio performance
Verification checklist
- Collect supplier declarations and material test reports
- Assess homogeneous material levels rather than the finished product
- Keep evidence for every part number in the bill of materials
- Refresh evidence when a supplier changes a material or process
