What it means

Radio equipment must be certified and carry the Giteki mark with the certification number. Products that include a certified module may still need their own certification if the module conditions are not met.

Applies to

  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID and cellular devices
  • Wireless modules and antennas
  • Short-range remote controls

What it does not cover

  • Japanese electrical safety obligations such as PSE for certain power supplies
  • Telecom network connection approval beyond the radio function
  • Cybersecurity regulation

Verification checklist

  • Determine whether the module certification can be reused
  • Apply to a registered Japanese certification body
  • Label the Giteki mark and certification number
  • Keep the construction-protection documentation current
